Responsibilities
The Plumber in the Engineering and Maintenance Department is responsible for the corrective and preventive maintenance of domestic, commercial and institutional plumbing and sanitary fixtures and fittings, and hydraulic services plant and equipment, to ensure that all such equipment and systems remain in optimum operational condition. Key tasks include:
* Carry out maintenance and repair work for plumbing, sanitary, and hydraulic systems.
* Perform works associated with new installations and extensions to plumbing, sanitary fixtures, and hydraulic services plant and equipment as required.
* Review hydraulic drawings for proposed clinical health work projects.
Qualifications & Experience
* Current trade qualifications with extensive experience in plumbing and gas fitting.
* Demonstrated knowledge of the WHS Act, relevant regulations, Australian Standards, and Legionella prevention in water systems.
* NSW Health recognised qualification in Thermostatic Mixing Valve and Backflow Prevention Valve installation, commissioning and repair, or a commitment to obtain such qualifications within 12 months.
* Knowledge of general plant and equipment operation and performance in a commercial environment, with the ability to assess repair requests and organize appropriate actions with minimal supervision while working cohesively within a team.
* Knowledge of preventative maintenance procedures for buildings, plant and equipment in a hospital or other complex environment.
* Ability to read plans, specifications and interpret drawings, and estimate cost, time and materials for plumbing works.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
* Availability for after‐hours call‐back in emergencies or as reasonably required.
