Total Salary Package: $188,151 to $254,198 (pro rata for part time) + Private Practice Scheme Allowance + Attraction and Retention Incentive + On-call allowance (17.4% of base salary + Private Practice Allowance) + Medical Education Expense Allowance + Superannuation (11.5%). Note: Starting salary will be negotiated based on experience and expertise or as per the 2024 VMO Core Conditions.

About the Role:
Position Overview
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join the unit. The individual will support the Cardiothoracic Surgery Service in achieving strategic priorities and providing exceptional healthcare to patients from the ACT and surrounding regions.
This role is for a VMO or Staff Specialist in the Cardiothoracic Surgery Unit.
The service comprises surgeons, anaesthetists, allied health professionals, nursing and administrative staff. Surgeons perform both cardiac and thoracic surgeries, collaborating closely with cardiologists and other specialists. The team provides comprehensive care across all patient journey phases, supported by registrars and junior medical officers.
Research links are maintained with ANU, University of Canberra, and Australian Catholic University. The hospital has postgraduate teaching programs and a well-equipped medical library.
The preferred candidate may be considered for a conjoint academic position at ANU, with details available from the Director, ANU School of Medicine and Psychology.
Prior to commencement, successful candidates will need to:
* Meet credentialing requirements and receive endorsed scope of practice from MDAAC
* Comply with occupational health and vaccination policies
