The Opportunity (Part Time Role) We are looking for a motivated Events and Activation Officer to join our Community Development Team in Kununurra to plan and deliver events that enhance community participation, activate facilities and spaces, and support Shire objectives.
This position supports the delivery of outcomes aligned with the Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley Strategic Community Plan, Corporate Business Plan and Community Development Policy.
Responsibilities include: Developing a program (calendar) of local community events to foster social cohesion and sense of community Coordinating and delivering local events, activations, and community programs from concept to completion Attracting and coordinating volunteers for events and other community activation opportunities Managing logistics including venues, permits, suppliers, and contractors Fostering strong relationships with internal teams, community groups, external partners and other stakeholders.
Promoting inclusivity and accessibility at all events Collaborating with communications team to develop promotional campaigns, manage Shire event branding, signage, and digital presence Essential for this role is Demonstrated experience in community activation initiatives and event management Strong organisational and administration skills Excellent computer skills with demonstrated experience in the use of Microsoft Office products, with good attention to detail Excellent time management skills, with the ability to plan and prioritise tasks, achieve set and agreed performance outcomes and service standards, and meet deadlines Ability to work independently and as part of a team Current Working with Children Check.
An acceptable National Police Clearance (dated within the last 6 months); Current unrestricted WA Driver Licence.
You will need excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders and the ability to travel between town sites within the Shire boundaries and work flexible hours including evenings and weekends when required.
