Position
Laboratory Manager
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily laboratory operations, ensuring all tests are conducted in compliance with relevant standards such as AS 1289, AS 1012, and AS 1141.
Ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation requirements and manage audit processes.
Supervise the scheduling and execution of tests on soils, aggregates, concrete, and other construction materials.
Ensure that accurate and timely test results are delivered to clients while maintaining quality control standards.
Lead, mentor, and train laboratory staff to maintain high standards of technical competency.
Ensure that staff are equipped with the necessary skills and certifications to perform their duties efficiently.
Implement and maintain internal quality control procedures to ensure the reliability of test data.
Oversee calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment to uphold testing accuracy and reliability.
Promote a culture of safety within the laboratory and ensure that all work is carried out following health and safety regulations.
Manage environmental compliance initiatives relevant to laboratory operations.
Liaise with clients to understand their needs and ensure test reports are delivered accurately and on time.
Oversee the preparation of test reports, ensuring proper documentation, including site selection and sampling as per ISO/IEC 17025 standards.
Manage laboratory supplies, consumables, and equipment procurement.
Ensure optimal resource allocation for ongoing and upcoming projects.
Stay updated on new test methods, standards, and technology advancements in construction materials testing.
Implement innovative solutions and best practices to improve laboratory efficiency and quality.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Diploma Laboratory Operations or equivalent
Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical and construction materials testing.
Proficiency in conducting a variety of laboratory tests and operating relevant equipment.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data.
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Signatory for Australian Standards across soil, aggregate and concrete.
