About The Role
Working across University Hospital Geelong and Early Parenting Centre (McKellar Centre) the Lactation consultants will provide advice and support to breastfeeding women, infants and their support network to aid and improve the health and well-being of children and families during the early postnatal period.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide expert, evidence-based lactation support to mothers and families, including assessment, education, and management of breastfeeding challenges, while ensuring culturally safe and patient-centred care.
* Coordinate and manage inpatient and outpatient lactation referrals, appointments, day stay programs, and group services, ensuring efficient service delivery and continuity of care.
* Work closely with midwives, nurses, speech pathologists, and other clinicians to support care delivery, provide staff education on lactation, and promote best practice in breastfeeding support.
* Contribute to the development and review of breastfeeding policies and guidelines, support BFHI accreditation processes, conduct audits, and lead initiatives to improve service quality and outcomes.
What We're Looking For
* Registered Nurse with AHPRA endorsed Midwife
* Internationally Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
* Recent experience around Extended Postnatal Care and / or Community based lactation care
