The Employer Our clients operate a family-run business located 6 km outside of Hillston. The day-to-day operations take place on their original property, which spans 2,800 hectares and has been in the family since 1948. This property primarily consists of irrigated cropping, some dryland farming, and a few grazing paddocks. Additionally, they manage a grazing block 35 km north of Hillston, covering 8,300 hectares, which is dedicated solely to cattle. They also oversee a leased block 15 km east of Hillston that spans 900 hectares, used for dryland farming. Our clients value communication, family, support, respect, and integrity. The Role Our clients are looking for an experienced farmhand to join their team. The role involves working across all aspects of the farming operation. Your duties will include, but are not limited to, operating a self-propelled sprayer, headers, and pickers during the harvesting seasons and performing ground preparation tractor work. They have predominantly John Deere Equipment with a Goldacres Self-propelled sprayer and a Case 7240 Header. Their primary farming practice is irrigated cropping, where they grow cotton and corn in the summer. In the winter, they cultivate a variety of crops, including wheat, canola, faba beans, peas, vetch, lentils, and barley, which are also part of the dryland farming program. Additionally, they maintain a breeding herd of 200 Angus cattle. All mustering is done using motorbikes and buggies; no dogs are used for mustering, and they strongly focus on low-stress stock handling. You will be required to work with the cattle as required, as well as any other general farm maintenance. The Offer A comfortable three-bedroom house, complete with an established garden and a shed, will be provided along with a work vehicle and an above-award wage to be negotiated, dependent on experience. The house is located in Hillston, which is just six kilometres from the farm, ensuring a good work-life balance. Hillston is situated on the Lachlan River and is a friendly rural town known for its agricultural heritage, scenic river walks, and relaxed country charm. The town offers good amenities, including a local pool, grocery store, daycare, and various schooling options.
