ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF EARLY LEARNING CENTRE
SUMMARY
The purpose of the Assistant Director is to ensure St Luke's Early Learning Centre
Director of the Early Learning Centre is always compliant with governing law and regulation. In carrying out the duties and expectations of the position description, the position supports the Approved Provider
in meeting its legislative responsibilities.
The position is directly responsible for supporting the workflow of the Centre
Director/Nominated Supervisor, or representative, to oversee the day-to-day
Internal and external liaison with management and operation of the Centre on behalf of the Approved Provider in
all staff, students/children, conjunction with the School Line Manager. It is a requirement of this position that

administrative functions to a high professional standard
Immediate start
• Ensure the Director is notified immediately and in the absence of the Director ensure the Approved Provider is notified immediately of any changes in either
your circumstances and/or the circumstances of the service (including but not
limited to employees, volunteers, students) compliance history where directed
by Anglican School Policy and Procedure to notify and within the bounds of
Privacy Legislation
* Ensure the Director/Nominated Supervisor and Approved Provider is notified
immediately of any breach, or suspected breach, of any governing legislation
* Report directly to the Director/Nominated Supervisor and/or the School Line
Manager any issue/item which would affect the children, service approval or
rating, regulatory and legal compliance, or the smooth running of the service
* Complete all reports to a high professional standard and within the set timeframes
* Notify the Director/Approved Provider/School Line Manager immediately if
visited by any Government officer and accurately report any outcomes or
actions as required, including to the Approved Provider
* Assist with the Child Care Management System to ensure enrolments, daily
bookings, Vacation Care and OSHC bookings are current
* Assist with the application of Child Care Subsidies and claiming of funding and
grants
* Work to ensure families, children, team members, students, visitors and
volunteers follow the Anglican Schools Commission, Approved Provider and the
Centre's policies and procedures at all times
* Promote and market the services, Approved Provider, Anglican Schools
Commission and The Anglican Church Southern Queensland in a way that
encourages the good reputation of the Centre within the wider community
* Ensure you and any employee or representative of the Centre do not talk to
media on behalf of the Approved Provider under any circumstance.
* Ensure the Director/Nominated Supervisor, Director of Communications and
Development, School Executive and Approved Provider are notified immediately
of the details upon being contacted by media
* Other duties and responsibilities as requested by the Director/Nominated
Supervisor and/or School Executive.
ROLE DESCRIPTION ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF EARLY LEARNING CENTRE
Support the Director and Educators to ensure educational programs are implemented to comply with legislative and funding requirements
* Act in a professional and polite manner at all times, with all team members, to support a cohesive team environment,
assisting team members where and when required
* Notify and assist the Director and Approved Provider of funding grants and acquittals where directed
* Actively seek to demonstrate recognition, acceptance and respect towards Australia's First Nation People and other
cultures within Australia
* Support Educators to provide for an anti-bias curriculum and pedagogy founded in respect and acceptance of all
persons
Ensure supervision and safety of children and staff attending the Centre
* Ensure the ongoing supervision and safety of children and staff in line with the Centre's supervision plan, supporting
team members to understand and meet supervision expectations
* Promote positive behaviour guidance practices that align with the Anglican Schools Commission and Centre policies
* Ensure all team members uphold a culture of safety for themselves and others, taking immediate action to report and
manage hazards or risks in consultation with leadership and WHS representatives
* Support and enforce Centre access protocols, including:
* Allowing authorised parents/guardians entry during care hours
* Preventing access by individuals who pose a safety risk or are legally prohibited
* Ensuring unauthorised persons are supervised or not present during operating hours
* In collaboration with the Director/Nominated Supervisor, ensure staff are trained in relevant policies and procedures
(e.g., child protection, medical, incident reporting) and that training records are maintained
* Where delegated, ensure high standards of WHS, incident, and child protection reporting, and represent the Centre on
the CYRMS Committee
* Support the risk assessment process for activities and excursions as required, ensuring compliance with approved
policies and procedures
* Act to protect children at all times, ensuring privacy rights are respected and all child protection concerns are
immediately reported according to policy and legislative requirements whilst ensuring interactions prioritise the
wellbeing and protection of children
* In collaboration with the Director, lead the implementation of the Centre's child safety policies and reporting obligations
that prioritise children's safety and wellbeing
Oversee positive and supportive relationships between the service, team members and children and families with an enrolment or seeking an enrolment
* Ensure self and team members actions are consistently professional in manner concerning their language, appearance
and behaviours and where concerns regarding others exist bring this to the attention of the Director
* Immediately notify the Director and/or Nominated Supervisor where a complaint alleges the National Law and/or
Regulations have been contravened
* Support team members to adhere to the Behaviour Management Pyramid and its associated requirements
* In the absence of the Director/ Nominated Supervisor ensure staff meetings, family meetings and management
meetings are planned and held as required and be willing to attend
* Promote clear communication between the management team and educators, staff, and families
* Review and closely monitor utilisation rates and ensure vacancies are addressed immediately
Support team member human resource delivery
* In the absence of the Director, notify the Approved Provider immediately should changes occur to the Nominated
Supervisor's employment
* In the absence of the Director, work within the Anglican Schools Commission and/or School HR & Compliance Manager
to check new employees meet all necessary qualification requirements for the employment position prior to offering an
employment position
* Under the direction of the Director, work within the Anglican Schools Commission and/or School HR & Compliance
Manager to ensure each educator at the services consistently meets the qualification requirements relevant to their
position description
* Assist the Director/ Nominated Supervisor to ensure the daily organisation of staff meets qualifications and educator to
child ratio requirements at all times
* In the absence of the Director and where directed by the Director, attend all Anglican School Commission or Approved
Provider meetings and training where required
* Where required by roster or directed by the Director or the Anglican Schools Commission, replace staff in rooms for
breaks, shifts or other duties

* Ensure all team members do not consume alcohol or are affected by alcohol or drugs (including prescription
medication) to impair their capacity to supervise or provide education and care to children at all times

times.

ROLE DESCRIPTION DIRECTOR OF EARLY LEARNING CENTRE
Education, Experience and Professional Qualifications Essential Desirable
Demonstrated experience within the Early Learning Years Sector at
a management level
Currently hold, or be actively studying towards a Diploma of Early
Childhood Education and Care or above
Working with Children Check 'Blue Card' or exemption notice
Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma & Anaphylaxis certificates
Currently hold, or be actively studying towards Bachelor of Education
– Early Childhood or above (or equivalent NQF Approved Qualification)
Previous success in people management, coaching and/or supervision
Knowledge of budgetary and financial management processes
