IT Software Engineer (C#) | Join Our 40-Year Legacy of Innovation
Catamac | Adelaide, South Australia
Ever wanted to be the person who both
builds
the system
and
helps people use it? We're looking for that rare breed who loves solving problems with code in the morning and helping teammates troubleshoot in the afternoon.
The Role That Breaks the Mold
We're not hiring a developer who occasionally helps with IT, or an IT person who dabbles in code. We need someone who genuinely enjoys both worlds - because at Catamac, understanding the full technology lifecycle makes you invaluable.
Why Catamac?
We've been solving real-world problems for Australian heavy-duty fleets for 40 years. We're a family-owned business which is small enough that your work matters immediately but established enough to offer stability and growth. You'll work with a team that values methodical problem-solving and isn't afraid to dig deep into complex challenges.
What You'll Actually Do:
80% Software Development:
* Build and maintain applications using C# and .NET (we run everything from legacy .NET Framework to cutting-edge .NET 9)
* Work with modern frontends and SQL Server databases
* Contribute to our transition from monolithic systems to clean architecture
* Collaborate on projects from customer portals to email automation systems
20% L1/L2 IT Support:
* Be the first line of defence when our team hits technical roadblocks
* Troubleshoot everything from network connectivity to application errors
* Bridge the gap between "it's broken" and "here's why, and here's the fix"
You'll Thrive Here If You:
* Have 1-3 years of experience with software development
* Enjoy the satisfaction of fixing problems - whether it's a bug in code or a colleague's laptop issue
* Can explain technical concepts to non-technical people without making them feel silly
* Pressure sharpens your focus and drive
* Like variety in your workday (no two days look exactly alike)
* Want to understand the full picture, not just your narrow silo
Our Tech Stack:
C# (.NET Framework & .NET 8),, SQL Server, Typescript, Entity Framework, APIs etc.
The Honest Truth:
This role isn't for everyone. If you only want to code in silence with headphones on, this isn't it. If you get frustrated explaining things more than once, this isn't it. But if you're energized by variety, get excited solving real world problems, love being the go-to person for both technical challenges and want to grow your skills across the entire business spectrum, let's talk.
To Apply:
Send your resume and a brief note telling us about a time you solved a problem that wasn't in your job description. Bonus points if it involved both technical skills and helping someone else.
