Processes member orders, collects payment while providing a high level of member service. Performs clean up, department set-up and closing tasks as necessary. Maintains courteous member service at all times.
Daily tasks and responsibilities:
* Provides prompt and courteous member service by greeting members, obtaining membership cards, determining member packing preferences, answering questions, relaying information on permanent/special promotions, and thanking members.
* Records the sale of items to the register by moving merchandise across the scan window, using a hand-held scanning gun or, if necessary, the 10-key pad.
* Transfers or ensures the transfer of each item as the item's barcode is scanned while adhering to all safety and security procedures.
* Promotes accurate merchandise inventory by monitoring the accurate scanning of all merchandise passing through the registers.
* May assist members with Self Checkouts with regards to scanning heavy merchandise, entering in items numbers.
* May assist members with Self Checkouts through monitoring the registers for errors and keeping belt area clean of product and debris.
* Requests Supervisor verification for high-ticket, Bottom of Basket, or non-transfer items. Counts register at sign on.
* Active participation in various promotions.
* Ensures the cleanliness of the register, and disposal of hazardous materials.
* Request for change, cash increases/loans when needed.
* Makes witnessed drops/deposits of excess funds to the vault, orders cash increases, and counts own register at shift end to maintain accurate register funds. Receives accurate payment for merchandise; makes change, processes cheques, credit and debit charges according to proper departmental procedures for paperwork and the performance of duties.
* Assists in the opening and closing duties of the Front-End department; placing returned or moved product back to their allotted spots in the warehouse, collecting register paperwork, stocking registers, cleaning the Front-End area, and retrieving shopping trolleys.
* Stays updated with company and regional Front End productivity guidelines.
* Follows proper Front End and general safety procedures and standards.
* Assist with other Front-End duties, and other departments of the warehouse as necessary.
* Provides prompt and courteous customer service to members, employees, and suppliers.
Non-Essential Functions and Tasks:
* Assists other areas in the department as necessary.
* Assists in other departments of the warehouse as necessary.
* Operates mechanical trash compactor/cardboard baler.
Must be available to work a rotating roster, including AM & PM & weekends.
