Achieve Something Great

The NSW Refugee Health Service (RHS) is a state-wide specialist health service aiming to protect and promote the health of people from a refugee background in NSW. This is a great opportunity for someone with senior management experience and an understanding of the refugee experience to act as Deputy Director.

As part of the senior management team, you will support the Director RHS, represent RHS on a range of government and non-government networks, and support working relationships with Local Health District Senior Executive, and Multicultural Health Service Directors, as well as statewide Multicultural Health Service Directors. The Deputy Director also develops and nurtures strategic relationships with local, State and Commonwealth agencies working with refugees, and effective working relationships with NSW Ministry of Health representatives.

You will have input on policy and projects that impact on aspects of refugee health. You will also lead a small projects team, and support them in the design, implementation and evaluation of a number of well-established projects.

If you are a leader who is passionate about supporting the health and wellbeing of people from a refugee background, please consider applying for this position. You will have senior management experience in a government or non government sector, be adept at facilitating change, taking initiative and have highly developed analytical and problem solving skills.

Are You the Right Fit?

We're seeking a strategic and collaborative leader with a strong commitment to improving refugee health outcomes.

You'll bring experience in leadership and management, contributing to planning, policy and decision‐making, and overseeing two small teams, projects and day‐to‐day operations. You're confident managing budgets, resources and performance, identifying funding opportunities, and reporting to Local Health Districts, NSW Ministry of Health and key stakeholders.

You'll play a key role in advocacy and planning, developing initiatives that respond to current and future refugee needs, supporting Local Health Districts in service development, and building strong partnerships with Refugee Networks, NGOs and other agencies.

If you're motivated to lead, collaborate and make a meaningful state‐wide impact, we'd love to hear from you.

Selection Criteria

To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.

* Relevant tertiary qualifications in health, social sciences or related field or equivalent experience.
* Please detail your management experience in the government or non-government sector and managing high level projects.
* Demonstrate your ability to facilitate change management, to make complex judgements and take initiatives through delegated responsibilities.
* Demonstrate your experience in liaising and consulting with refugee communities, health professionals, health interests groups and Government agencies at multiple levels.
* Demonstrate your knowledge of the health, social and settlement issues affecting refugees in NSW, and your experience in meeting the needs of a multicultural community, and implementation of equity and access strategies.
* Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
