About the role

The Lecturer (Back to Base – Year 4) is responsible for coordinating the MEDI6004 Back to Base program for Year 4 students at the Melbourne Clinical School.

This 0.2 FTE position requires availability on Wednesdays to support Year 4 Back to Base days and ensure the seamless delivery of medical education at the University of Notre Dame during these sessions.

The position reports to the Associate Dean, Melbourne Clinical School, for MCS-related responsibilities, and through them to the National Head of School, School of Medicine.


Key Responsibilities

* Develop Back to Base (BTB) timetables for MEDI6004 and monitoring student attendance, coordinating with the Administration Officer at MCS, and the Associate Dean as required.
* Coordinate Back to Base days for MEDI6004 including sourcing and providing guidance to visiting expert lecturers at BTB.
* Undertake teaching duties at Back to Base sessions including Clinical skills teaching, supervising Short Case Tutorials, Journal Club and Clinical Debriefing Tutorials as well as conducting Grand Rounds for MEDI6004.
* Liaise with the relevant MCS Discipline Leaders to ensure the consistent delivery of the MEDI6004 Back to Base curriculum.
* Participating in OSCE planning and delivery, student assessment and examinations.
* Assist as directed by the Associate Dean, Melbourne Clinical School with other duties.


Qualifications, skills & experience

* Possession of a Medical qualification.
* Registered with AHPRA and a Fellowship of a relevant professional body or significant progress towards.
* Experience in teaching at undergraduate or postgraduate level or higher in medical, health or professional practice-based education settings.
* An understanding of the Objects of the University and its Values in the provision of medical education within the context of Catholic Healthcare and University Education.
