Senior Advisor, Communications and MediaThe National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA) is Australia's independent expert regulator for health and safety, structural integrity, well integrity and environmental management for all offshore energy operations and greenhouse gas storage activities in Commonwealth waters, and in coastal waters where regulatory powers and functions have been conferred.NOPSEMA also administers the functions of the Offshore Infrastructure Regulator (OIR), for the offshore renewables industry. No two days will be alike - one day you will be working on social media, the next you’ll be preparing briefing notes for a Federal Minister and the next you’ll be responding to journalists. If you are not easily fazed and you’re a multi-skilled, multi-tasker with boundless enthusiasm, read on…Role:Reporting to the Assistant Director, Communications and External Affairs, you will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to build and maintain effective, professional relationships and drive key projects, offering creative solutions, project support and communication guidance.Key Responsibilities:As a skilled Senior Adviser, Communications and Media, you will engage and collaborate with key external stakeholders, in government, industry and media to enhance understanding, protect reputation and communicate change.You will create and implement communication strategies and contribute to facilitating engagement, liaison, and negotiation in support of regulatory priorities, legislative reform, and operational needs.In this role, you will coordinate and respond to media enquiries, undertake media monitoring, identifying emerging issues and produce internal media reports.You will also coordinate publication of ministerial quarterly reports, ministerial briefings, and parliamentary correspondence such as Questions on Notice.The successful applicant, in collaboration with the Communications Team, will assist with preparing internal and external communications materials including, brochures, presentations, newsletter articles, regulatory and corporate publications.We would like to hear from you if:You have demonstrated ability and experience to provide advice and support to progress communications and stakeholder engagement initiatives.You can work collaboratively within a team and demonstrate flexibility in managing competing priorities in a vibrant environment.You have demonstrated experience in writing and producing media and parliamentary documents.You have excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation and influencing skills.You own a tertiary qualification in communication, government, journalism, public administration or related disciplines.Desirably, you have experience or knowledge of the offshore energy sector and/or resources sector and/or government processes.Why work for NOPSEMA?As a highly skilled, agile, and competent regulator, our people are our number one asset.
