Overview

Australian Bureau of Statistics – Perth WA

We are seeking Senior Executive Services Band 1 (Program Managers) to fill two current vacancies: Program Manager Prices Branch and Program Manager Household Surveys Branch, and to create a merit pool for future data and statistical ABS SES Band 1 vacancies.

About the areas

As Program Manager Prices Branch, you will oversee the delivery of key ABS programs relating to consumer, producer, international trade and wage price indices. You will provide leadership, program governance, and stakeholder engagement to sustain the integrity and quality of ABS price-related outputs.

As Program Manager Household Surveys Branch, you will oversee a program that includes social surveys; household income and expenditure surveys; and health and disability surveys. You will ensure the delivery and ongoing innovation of ABS household surveys ensuring they continue to be fit for the future. You will provide leadership and strong quality management, and work collaboratively to deliver statistical solutions that meet client needs.

About the roles

As a Program Manager you will have accountability to produce high-quality statistical products and insights and contribute to the modernisation of the ABS' business.

Key responsibilities

* Maintaining and overseeing a branch work program producing high quality statistical products and insights
* Managing a branch current and forward year budget, including improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the branch
* Developing and maintaining relations with key Commonwealth, State/Territory and non-government stakeholders
* Providing statistical and data advice and solutions in response to stakeholder requests
* Demonstrating and promoting expected cultural behaviours (self-aware, customer-focused, collaborative, accountable, adaptable and innovative)
* Leading and inspiring staff to build engagement with ABS, deliver high performance and support employee wellbeing

What we are looking for (selection criteria)

We're seeking dynamic and experienced leaders who can:

* Demonstrate people-focused leadership and engagement: Inspire high performance and build inclusive, capable teams while fostering strong relationships across the ABS, with key government and non-government stakeholders, and internationally.
* Ensure effective governance and resource management: Manage current and forward budgets to improve branch efficiency and effectiveness, and support streamlined governance for transparent, flexible decision-making and resource allocation.
* Promote innovation, risk management, and continuous improvement: Balance risk management with a commitment to fostering innovation, continuous improvement, and the development and implementation of international statistical standards.
* Exhibit strong analytical and adaptive capabilities: Apply excellent conceptual and analytical skills with strategic judgement, and thrive in dynamic environments.
* Contribute to the ABS' modernisation agenda to help the ABS make best use of new technological and data opportunities to better deliver on our key objectives.

Eligibility

To be eligible for these roles you:

* You must be an Australian citizen at the time you apply.
* You may need to obtain (or hold) and maintain at least a Baseline security clearance.
* ABS employees who have access to market sensitive information are restricted in market trading activities. You may not be allowed to trade in financial products while employed. Some roles are restricted in trading.
