About The Role: As a Secondary Design Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and delivering high‑quality secondary system designs for HV substations. Your work will span protection studies, control systems, and detailed engineering design, supporting projects from concept through to commissioning.
Responsibilities
* Deliver detailed secondary system designs for HV substations
* Prepare and review technical documentation, specifications, and reports
* Perform protection grading studies and calculate protection settings
* Contribute to concept and functional design development
* Support testing and commissioning activities including FAT and SAT
* Assist with project scoping, costing, and scheduling
* Provide direction and oversight to drafting teams
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project alignment
Skills & Experience
* Degree‑qualified in Electrical Engineering
* Chartered or Professional Engineer status (preferred but not essential)
* Demonstrated experience in HV secondary design: protection, control, AC/DC systems
* Background in delivering complex substation designs for infrastructure or utility projects
* Experience with AusNet highly desired
* Proficiency in preparing detailed drawings and technical documentation
* Experience supporting technical components of bids or tenders is an advantage
* Familiarity with relevant Australian Standards and utility specifications
* Exposure to high‑profile HV infrastructure and grid upgrade projects
