The City of Port Lincoln is seeking a full-time, permanent Senior Rates Officer responsible for the administration, integrity and maintenance of Council's rating system. The role ensures accurate and efficient rate modelling and levy preparation, generates and issues annual and quarterly rates notices to ratepayers, and ensures that public funds are collected timeously and in accordance with the Local Government Act 1999 and Council policy. This supports Council essential services such as infrastructure, waste management and community programs.

Responsibilities
* Efficient and accurate processing of rates data.
* Maintain accurate property and assessment records, including adjoining properties, land parcels, rates journals, adjustments, changes of address and ownership.
* Manage preparation, modelling and generation of annual and quarterly rate notices.
* Ensure timely and accurate issuance of rate notices and correspondence.
* Oversee administration of Chapter 7 Searches.
* Undertake monthly reconciliations of rates revenue, control accounts and property data.
* Administer Council's rates debt collection processes in accordance with policy and legislation, monitor and manage outstanding rates, arrange payment plans, liaise with the debt‐collection agency and recommend recovery actions.
* Facilitate statutory processes, including sale of land for non‐payment of rates.
* Prepare monthly reporting on rates arrears and recovery actions for management review.
* Ensure accurate and timely completion of reconciliations and reports within internal timeframes.
* Maintain strong data integrity across rating and financial systems.
* Manage and resolve ratepayer enquiries, including complex matters and objections, escalating sensitive issues appropriately.
* Cross‐train and provide backup support for the Accounts Receivable function.
* Act in the position of Revenue Accountant as required.
* Provide support and guidance to team members.
* Contribute to continuous improvement of systems, processes and service delivery.
* Work collaboratively with finance and customer experience teams.
* Process daily banking transactions, bank reconciliations, reporting and related general journals.
* Report incidents, near‐miss incidents, injuries, property damage and identified hazards.
* Take reasonable care to protect safety of self and others, follow health and safety instructions and participate in WHS programs as required.
Essential Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills
* Experience in a similar position or industry.
* Knowledge of the Local Government Act 1999.
* Proficient IT skills.
* Proficient customer‐service skills.
Highly Regarded (but not essential)
* Rates Diploma.
* Demonstrated experience in records management.

* Rates modelling completed timeously and accurately.
* Debt‐collection referrals regularly maintained and up to date.
* Rate notices generated and issued according to set timelines.
* Rates data accurate and up to date.
* Rate queries addressed within one week of receipt.
* WHS responsibilities undertaken within required times.
