About the Opportunity
The Executive Manager, Organisation and Community Development, is a member of the Senior Management Team and supports the Chief Executive Officer with strategic leadership to ensure the organisation's strategic goals and priorities are met.
The Executive Manager is responsible for leading a department of 40+ individuals whose focus is on developing the organisation to improve its contribution to Closing the Gap in health and wellbeing in Cape York communities.
The Executive Manager is responsible for providing strategic and operational management to the portfolios of Service Planning & Development, Marketing & Communications, Community Engagement and Workforce Development.
This position leads the department in investigating, initiating and developing business opportunities, service planning and the promotion of Apunipima and works with Cape York elders and community groups to build local capacity through community engagement.
This role is for an initial 3 year contract with the possibility of extension.
This position is identified where, under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community.
About You:
You will have:
* At least 5 years senior management experience within a large or complex organisation, with proven experience working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary executive management team.
* The high level ability to work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, including elders, community groups and Councils in developing community responses to health and wellbeing issues across Cape York.
* Well-developed interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills, including an ability to establish, influence and maintain strong working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
* The ability to ensure the effective management of strategic and operational risks as well as demonstrated experience resolving complex issues and devising innovative solutions.
* A knowledge of the historical and contemporary issues that impact the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Cape York and an understanding and commitment to the principles of the Aboriginal Community Control.
Ideally you will have
* Tertiary qualifications in Management, Business, Marketing, Public Health or a related discipline in a field relevant to the position.
* Demonstrated experience managing and working effectively with a team of operational managers.
Desirable
* Previous experience ideally within a not-for-profit organisation
* Experience within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled sector
Mandatory requirements
* Current Queensland Drivers Licence
* Current Blue Card positive notice or exemption, or willing and able to obtain prior to commencement
* Willingness to undertake an Australian Federal Police Check prior to commencement.
* Must be willing and able to travel across Cape York either by light aircraft or 4WD as required.
