The Role
As Practice Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the firm and act as a key support to the Partners. This is a hands-on, trusted role where you\'ll drive operational efficiency, maintain high compliance standards, and support a high-performing team of accountants and administrators.
You\'ll be relied upon to keep the practice running smoothly - from workflow and lodgements to billing, systems, and client experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and streamline practice operations, including workflow, resourcing, and statutory deadlines (ASIC, ATO, TPB, ACNC)
* Support Partners with work-in-progress (WIP) management, billing, write-ups/write-offs, and practice growth initiatives
* Oversee billing cycles and debtor management
* Coordinate and support lodgements, including Income Tax Returns, BAS/IAS, and FBT
* Maintain and optimise practice management systems (Xero Practice Manager, Karbon, NowInfinity, Content Snare, etc.)
* Implement and monitor internal policies, quality control, and risk management frameworks
* Act as a senior escalation point for client queries, ensuring a consistently high standard of service
* Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce friction across the practice
What We're Looking For
* Proven experience as a Practice Manager or Senior Administration Manager in an accounting or professional services firm
* Minimum of 5-7 years of Practice Manager experience in an accounting or professional services environment
* Strong understanding of Australian business services and tax compliance requirements
* Advanced experience with Xero Practice Manager (XPM), Xero Tax (Blue & Green), and related practice software
* Solid financial and operational capability, including billing, WIP management, and debtor control
* Excellent organisational, leadership, and communication skills
* High attention to detail with strong analytical and reconciliation skills
* Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work autonomously in a remote environment
* Previous accounting experience in Business Services & Tax is highly regarded
* Australian work rights are required for this position
