About the Opportunity

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people? We're looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Social Worker to join our dedicated Youth Health Service (YHS) team, supporting young people aged 12 to 24 years across South Western Sydney.

Your Role

The Senior Social Worker (SSW) plays a pivotal role in the delivery of high-quality, youth-centred care within the Youth Health Service (YHS). This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering evidence-based, trauma-informed, culturally safe care for young people aged 12 to 24 years with a focus on case management.

What You'll Do

This temporary part-time (TPT) position will have a primary focus on supporting the Youth Health Service (YHS) Medical Clinic and Nursing Service. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the Senior Social Worker will lead and contribute to quality improvement initiatives and research activities that enhance service delivery and outcomes for young people.

The SSW plays a central role in promoting integrated models of care across service settings, strengthening collaborative partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders, and championing best-practice, youth-centred approaches to health and wellbeing.

Who You Are

You are an experienced, compassionate Social Worker with a strong understanding of youth development, trauma, and culturally responsive care. You're a collaborative team player, confident in leading and supporting others while maintaining high professional standards.

What You'll Need

* Tertiary qualification in Social Work and eligibility for membership with AASW
* Demonstrated experience in working with young people, preferably within a health or community setting
* Strong knowledge of trauma-informed and culturally appropriate care principles
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Commitment to NSW Health Code of Conduct and ethical practice

* A Bachelor or post graduate degree in Social Work that provides eligibility for full membership to the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
* Demonstrated high level clinical experience and understanding of the needs of young people aged 12 to 24 years of age and their families/carers accessing the health care system including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse and refugee client groups.
* Extensive post graduate experience working as a Social Worker with demonstrated understanding of working with at risk, vulnerable and marginalised young people 12 to 24 years of age, and their families/carers to provide high quality comprehensive assessments, care planning and delivery of appropriate therapy and interventions.
* Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills along with excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills, being well organised, flexible and able to manage competing priorities, demanding workload, stressful situations.
* Demonstrated experience and understanding of engagement issues related to youth, including but not limited to experience and understanding of mental health, drug and alcohol and other health issues facing young people.
* Demonstrated experience in the provision of clinical supervision, mentoring and development of junior staff and students.
* Highly developed interpersonal, communication, coaching, and consultative skills, including report writing skills.
* Demonstrated ability in building and maintaining professional and therapeutic relationships through the application of written, verbal, interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
* Ability to initiate, lead, complete and implement quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff.
* Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
