The Risk and Control Manager sits within the WPB Chief Controls Office and reports directly to the Senior Manager, WPB Risk and Compliance. This role will be responsible for overseeing the operational risk and control management framework within WPB to understand, assess and help manage risks they face as they embed new technology and adopt new ways of working across their business.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Facilitate Risk and Controls assessment (RCA) within the 'First Line of Defence' for WPB as part of operational risk management ensuring key risks are appropriately addressed at the right stage of implementation.
- Provide advice and guidance on the maintenance of an effective internal control environment facing WPB including reviewing new product and service initiatives (PSIs).
- Execute control monitoring and assurance programme based on business requirements.
- Oversight of remediation of issues arising from control monitoring and assurance.
- Produce regular reporting to Business and entity WPB Risk Management Forums, as well as oversight on material issues for escalation
- Provide support for the WPB teams in adherence to both internal and external directives from 'Second Line of Defence' including but not limited to Compliance, Operational & Resilience Risk, Legal and Finance functions;
- Assist WPB Teams in implementing policies and procedures.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Good understanding of the Group's Operational Risk and Control Framework, preferably gained through experience in front line and risk management roles.
- Sound knowledge of the Wealth and Personal Banking business, including operational activities, products, processes and systems.
- General understanding of other areas of risk e.g. credit, market.
- Proven problem solving skills with ability to consider alternative and lateral solutions;
- Strong communication, presentation and influencing skills;
- Ability to work independently and cope with pressure and tight deadlines.
- Ability to understand complex concepts.
- Ability to conceptualise the operational impact of business change
