Job Title: Senior Legal Officer
The position is available for a dedicated and skilled Senior Legal Officer who will work in a team to advance the cause of CFMEU members.
* Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor with an unrestricted current practicing certificate.
* A minimum of 5 years' experience as a legal/industrial professional, preferably in a senior role.
* Litigation experience, either as an advocate or instructor, is required.
* Experience and knowledge of Right of Entry (ROE) is highly desirable.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Adobe, and related programs is essential.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare, manage, and advocate for cases in courts and the Fair Work Commission.
* Provide expert legal advice and assistance to CFMEU members, organisers, and executives on industrial and employment law matters.
* Deal with regulatory authorities, including the Fair Work Commission, WorkSafe ACT, Secure Local Jobs Registrar, and others.
* Liaise with other union branches and legal officers to achieve collective goals.
* Research and submit proposals on key issues affecting CFMEU members.
* Draft enterprise agreements and clauses, participating in bargaining and agreement-making processes.
