We are pleased to offer the opportunity for a new Kennel Manager to start with our team in the Adelaide Hills.

Lions Assistance Dogs (LAD) is a national, not-for-profit Assistance Dog organisation that has provided Hearing Assistance Dogs to deaf and hard-of-hearing Australians, free of charge, for over 40 years. In recent years, LAD has expanded its services by adding new programs and initiatives to support and enrich the lives of more Australians in need.

Our Kennel Manager works on-site, overseeing the hygiene of the kennel complex and looking after our Assistance Dogs in training.

Responsibilities of the role are:

* Cleaning kennels and maintaining high hygiene standards.

* Preparing and feeding meals, including administering medications when required.

* Monitoring dogs and promptly reporting any signs of illness, injury, or behavioural concerns.

* Working closely with the Assistance Dog Training Team to ensure nutritional and hygiene/grooming needs are met for Assistance Dogs in training.

* Management of a small team of Casual Kennel Attendants who cover weekends and public holidays.

* Working with volunteers in our enrichment program with Assistance Dogs in training.

* Following all LAD operating procedures and WHS/OHS requirements.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

* Previous experience working or volunteering with animals.

* Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and hygiene.

* Ability to work in a team or independently.

* Physically capable of lifting and carrying up to 20kg unassisted.

* Highly organised with good communication skills.

* Current full drivers licence.

Please note: This is a physically active role that requires the ability to stand, walk, lift, carry, bend, kneel and handle animals (up to 50kg). You must be able to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions, and comfortably interact with dogs, team members, volunteers and members of the public.
