Job Description

The Logistics and Transportation Manager is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive transportation strategies aligned with business objectives, considering factors such as cost, service level agreements, and environmental sustainability. The role participates in the selection and onboarding of transportation service providers, overseeing the management of contracts and agreements to ensure compliance. The role engages in strategic forecasting and capacity planning, anticipates future transportation needs and mitigates potential risks. The role negotiates commercial tariffs with service providers, and provides guidance and recommendations to senior management on strategic decisions and initiatives. The role handles the execution of warehousing contracts and agreements, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions while proactively identifying opportunities for cost savings and service enhancements.

Job Responsibilities:

• Owns (directly or as a delegation) the transportation operations in her/his scope, securing inbound goods receiving, storage, handling and outbound transportation are executed efficiently with focus on highest quality and patient safety, end-to-end optimization and in full compliance with processes defined and with quality, regulatory, sustainability, legal and trade compliance obligations.

• Ensures the quality assurance of master data and transactional data throughout the entirety of his/her operational activities, maintaining a stringent adherence to established protocols and standards to guarantee accuracy, consistency, and reliability across all created and updated records.

• Establishes and maintains key performance indicators (KPIs) for logistics and transportation operations, regularly monitoring and evaluating performance metrics to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

• Develops and implements comprehensive transportation strategies aligned with business objectives, taking into account factors such as cost, service level agreements, quality, regulatory, legal and trade compliance obligations, and environmental sustainability.

• Leads cross-functional teams in the planning and execution of large-scale projects aimed at optimizing transportation networks, reducing costs, onboarding new operations, improving supply chain visibility and enhancing service quality.

• Collaborates with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities for process optimization and automation within the logistics and transportation function, leveraging technology and data analytics to drive efficiency gains.

• Participates in the selection and onboarding of transportation service providers, conducting thorough assessments and negotiations to secure partnerships that align with organizational goals.

• Oversees the management of transportation contracts and agreements, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions while proactively identifying opportunities for cost savings and service enhancements.

• Engages in short- and medium-term forecasting and capacity planning to anticipate future transportation needs and mitigate potential risks, including fluctuations in demand, regulatory changes, and geopolitical factors.

• Develops and implements training programs for logistics and transportation staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development to enhance skill sets and capabilities.

• Serves as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor on logistics and transportation matters, providing guidance and recommendations to senior management on strategic decisions and initiatives.

• Manages talent across the team, while driving employee selection, performance management, compensation management, career development, and ensuring effective operational management.

Minimum required Education:
Bachelor's / master's degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management or equivalent.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

* Minimum 5-8 years of experience with a Bachelor's in areas such as Supply Chain, Transport, Logistics, Operations, Physical Distribution or equivalent.

* Superior knowledge and proven experience of Transport & logistics operations.

* Exceptional end to end knowledge of supply chain operations,, cost management and improvement opportunities

* Excellent people management skills with the ability to influence across a broad spectrum of internal and external stakeholders

* Outstanding customer relationship attributes and a commitment to delivering a high level of customer service

* Highly developed conflict resolution and negotiation skills

* Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills

* High-level communication skills, both written and verbal

How we work together
We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week.
Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company's facilities.
Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company's main facilities, generally at the customers' or suppliers' locations.
This role is an office-based role.
