Overview
Being Human Plan and Care is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Disability Support Worker to join our team in Parmelia and surrounding areas. This is a casual position, providing flexible work opportunities to support individuals with disabilities and help them live independently in the community. We're looking for someone with a good sense of humour who is easygoing and enjoys a laugh. A positive, light-hearted approach will help foster strong connections and build meaningful, trusting relationships with clients.
What you'll be doing
* Providing personalised support and assistance to clients with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and social engagement
* Accompanying clients to appointments, social activities, and community events to facilitate their participation and independence
* Advocating for client needs and ensuring their preferences are respected
* Maintaining detailed client records and reporting any changes or concerns to the care team
* Collaborating with allied health professionals and family members to develop and implement client-centred support plans
* Promoting a safe and inclusive environment that respects the dignity and rights of each individual
What we\'re looking for
* Minimum Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) or equivalent
* Experience supporting individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and complex behaviours
* Previous experience providing direct care and support to individuals with disabilities
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with clients
* Resourcefulness, flexibility, and a genuine commitment to empowering individuals with disabilities
* A valid driver\'s licence and access to a reliable vehicle is preferred
* Demonstrated understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in the disability services sector
