Narang Bir-rong Aboriginal Corporation (NBAC) is a proud, community-controlled organisation working to ensure Aboriginal children grow up safe, strong and connected to culture, family and Country.
We provide culturally grounded out-of-home care and family support services across the Dharug, Gundungurra and Gadigal nations, with a strong foundation in cultural integrity, healing, and Aboriginal-led decision-making.
The Opportunity
We're seeking a Non-Executive Director to join our Board and contribute their professional expertise to the governance of our organisation.
If you bring skills in accounting or finance, legal and regulatory compliance, or governance and risk, and you're looking for a meaningful way to use your experience for good - we'd love to hear from you.
This is your chance to play a vital role in supporting one of Western Sydney's most respected Aboriginal organisations, and to help create stronger outcomes for children and families.
What You'll Do
* Provide strategic input and governance oversight
* Offer subject matter expertise in your area (finance, risk, legal or compliance)
* Review policies, budgets, compliance frameworks and risk registers
* Participate in regular Board meetings and relevant sub-committees
* Support organisational compliance with legal and funding obligations
* Promote NBAC's work within your networks
* Bring a values-driven, culturally respectful approach to Board leadership
Who We're Looking For
We're keen to connect with professionals who bring experience in one or more of the following areas:
* Chartered accounting, financial management or audit
* Legal practice, regulatory compliance or contract law
* Governance, organisational risk or board strategy
You'll also ideally bring:
* Previous Board or committee experience
* A commitment to Aboriginal self-determination, cultural safety and social justice
* Integrity, sound judgement and a collaborative mindset
* An understanding of the unique role and challenges of community-led organisations
Time & Commitment
Board meetings are held monthly of an evening, with flexibility to attend in person or online. Including prep and any extra involvement, you can expect to commit around 5 hours per month.
