Hancock Energy has a Max Term opportunity until Dec 2028 for an Instrument & Controls Engineer to join a growing team supporting onshore oil and gas projects throughout Western Australia.
This opportunity is within the Projects team based onshore in West Perth. The Instrument & Control Engineer is responsible for coordinating activities associated with the engineering and design process and activities of a significant Gas Project, through from FEED, detail engineering, construction support, commissioning and start up and into operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Responsible for the design, analysis and verification of Instrument and Controls systems for the Gas Plant for both industrial, commercial and infrastructure facilities within the CPF site.
* The role ensures all Instrument and Control system designs meet applicable safety standards, safety requirements and associated project specifications to enable the safe operation of the process facilities.
* Provide support to the Engineering manager in the implementation of the FEED/ Design Contractor deliverables
* Analyse and recommend corrective necessary actions to meet project deliverables.
* Support in the development of design methods and provide engineering support for early works, construction execution, commissioning and operations
* Review all Instrument and Controls engineering designs, calculations, drawings, logic diagrams, P&IDs, instrument indexes, I/O lists and loop diagrams and control narratives that meet the relevant design specifications.
* Review all Process Control systems, instrument and control cable schedules and equipment layouts as presented by the design contractor
* Review the supply specification of selected Instrument and Controls equipment including controls valves, analysers, transmitters meet the process requirements of the applicable standards.
* Review the design control system architecture including DCS, PLC, ESD, F&G and SCADA systems
* Review the preparation of cause and effect matrices, control philosophies and system logic diagrams
* Support the Engineering manager with Instrument and Controls engineering resourcing (internal and external) for effective timely delivery.
* Review the design of instrument sizing calculations, (flow pressure), temperature, level and loop tuning as required.
* Provide input in selection of projects procurement strategy, selection of suitable engineers and contractors to award project contracts and work packages.
* Assist in the review of bills of quantities (BoQ) cost estimates and material take -offs.
* Provide technical input in tender evaluation to drive optimum value and performance basis.
* Conformance to established "good industry" Instrument and Controls engineering practices.
* Provide support to FATs and relevant testing regimes as performed by the contractor
* Coordinate with contractors, other project vendors and services suppliers
* Coordinate with the project controls group activities including cost and schedule reporting as well as review and approval of invoices, negotiation of fees and contract sums (in conjunction with project procurement specialists)
* Maintain effective engineering document control process and management within the engineering team
* Review functional safety compliance IEC 61508/61511 principles into all controls system designs.
* Idetify and mitigate process and control related risks
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Minimum of 10 years engineering experience, including major Oil and Gas Projects.
* Proficiency in instrument design software and Auto Cad, P&IDs, inTools
* Strong Design Skills and knowledge
* Strong Knowledge of engineering science and technology
* Expert knowledge of Australian standards, industry codes and legislation. AS/NZ 3000, AS/NZ 3011, AS 61439, AS 2067, AS 60079
* Extensive knowledge of the engineering industry and Australian IEC Standards, codes, legislation and structural/civil specifications
* Chartered Engineer
