Lead a high-impact role across CHPP, HSEC, and JV interface

Peabody is seeking a dynamic and influential leader to step into the newly created role of Wambo Operations Manager. This is a unique prospect to take full accountability for one of NSW's most operationally diverse coal sites, including CHPP operations, tailings and water management, HSEC,, while representing the business at Joint Venture (JV) level.
Reporting directly to the Vice President - Australian Opencut Operations, you will lead approximately 100+ employees and contractors in a 24/7 production environment. This is a critical, visible leadership role requiring a balance of strategic oversight and hands on operational direction.
As the appointed Wambo Mine Operator Representative and a key member of the Joint Venture Management Committee.
**Your Key Accountabilities**
- Lead the full site complex including CHPP (12 mill tone per year), HSEC, tailings and water management
- Represent Peabody in the Wambo JV Management Committee and act as the appointed Mine Operator Representative
- Drive site wide strategy, performance, and compliance in alignment with corporate and JV objectives
- Lead and support a multi-disciplinary leadership team across operations, maintenance, and projects
- Navigate legacy underground obligations following mine sealing, including statutory compliance
- Promote a high-performance, safety-first culture with continuous improvement at the core

- Proven leadership experience in coal mining, site operations, or processing (CHPP)
- Strong understanding of NSW regulatory compliance and JV management obligations
- Demonstrated success in leading multidisciplinary teams in high performance environments
- Financial and commercial acumen to manage budgets, cost controls and forecasts
- Experience dealing with regulators, EAs, and union environments
- A passion for continuous improvement, innovation, and positive site culture
**The lifestyle**:
This position is offered on a Monday to Friday roster with one rostered day off per month and can allow for a residential lifestyle.
