About the position
The Zone is a youth alcohol and other drug (AOD) intersectional program and partnership between the Youth Support and Advocacy Service (YSAS), Odyssey House Victoria (OHV) and Drummond Street Services (DS). This consortium delivers a wide-reaching program covering the entire Northwest Melbourne region and is funded by the Northwest Melbourne Primary Health Network (NWMPHN). The Zone supports young people aged 12-25 with a significant focus on intersectional support, particularly for Pasifika, African and LGBTQIA+ young people and families.
The Zone exists to address a need for targeted AOD services that deliver quality, evidence-informed support to marginalised communities. The intention of The Zone is to recognise, address and overcome the systemic failures of siloed and single-issues treatment, by offering an innovative service response that engages young people and their families from priority population groups.
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Manager who’s worked in the youth alcohol and other drug (AOD) sector. Someone who has a ‘safe pair of hands’ who can manage the routine daily operations of a service delivery including people management, financial management and practice compliance.
Additional key functions of this role include; leading relationships with funding agencies, strengthen alignment and cohesion of outreach programs in the region, ensuring monthly reporting is accurately completed, support review and improvement activities and contribute to broader organisational development work.
Key Selection Criteria
* Significant management experience, with a demonstrated capability to provide leadership and direction to a multi-disciplinary staff group, and to be an effective member of a senior leadership team.
* Understand and have experience providing services to young people, families and communities where intersectionality contributes to discrimination and disadvantage.
* A thorough understanding of the complexities and functions of youth outreach programs, and centre-based services.
* Experience in the design, development, and review of service delivery that is responsive to the lives of families and young people at risk.
* Demonstrated ability to prepare performance related reports and develop and implement strategies to ensure activity and quality targets are met.
* Demonstrated expertise in collaborating with other community service organisations, government and other funding providers.
* Demonstrated outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, ability to build strong and positive workplace culture, and well-developed written communication skills.
