About the role:
Role Summary:
The Assembly Technician is a vital role within VanHomes production operations, focused on supporting the fit-out of transportable homes through hands-on assembly tasks. This role performs installation of cabinetry, plumbing, electrical, and general components, ensuring quality and safety standards are met. By contributing to efficient production processes and supporting daily operations, the Assembly Technician enhances VanHomes reputation for excellence in modular home construction, assisting the Assembly Supervisor in achieving production goals.
We are hiring for 3 full-time positions.
Your Key Responsibilities:
* Install cabinetry, plumbing, electrical, roofing and general components according to technical drawings and design specifications
* Assist in reviewing technical drawings and report discrepancies to the Assembly Supervisor
* Conduct quality checks on assembled components to maintain a defect rate below 2%
* Participate in daily toolbox meetings to receive goals, safety protocols, and operational priorities
* Operate and maintain tools and equipment used in the assembly process
* Support the assembly team by preparing materials and tracking stock availability
* Maintain accurate records of production activities, including material usage and defect observations
* Report damaged stock, near-misses, and hazards to the Assembly Supervisor
* Assist in documenting production data in management systems such as T-sheets and Slack
* Execute ad-hoc tasks assigned by the Assembly Supervisor to support production objectives
Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Responsibilities:
* Ensure compliance with WHS policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) during assembly tasks
* Report hazards or incidents to the Assembly Supervisor
* Follow safe work practices to maintain a zero-incident workplace
* Assist in documenting production-related incidents as directed
What We Are Looking For:
Essential:
* Trade qualification or Certificate III in Carpentry, Building, or a related field, or 2+ years' equivalent experience in construction or assembly
* Practical experience in roofing, installing cabinetry, plumbing, electrical, or general components
* Understanding of workplace safety standards and quality control processes
* Good communication skills for collaborating with team members
Desirable:
* White Card (Construction Induction Training) or First Aid and CPR Certification
* Experience with production management systems (e.g., T-sheets, Slack)
