ABOUT THE ROLE
OzFish is seeking a highly motivated Safety Officer to join our Business team. Our Safety Officer will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of our staff, Chapters, supporters and members across the country. They will ensure our team’s compliance with OzFish safety policies and procedures, develop new processes, procedures and draft policies as required. You should expect to work with all OzFish staff teams, and to travel to OzFish working locations in all Australian states and territories. You will be working within our Business Team, responsible for maintaining our core business functions.
This position requires a passionate individual with excellent interpersonal skills, a strategic and continuous improvement mindset, and a commitment to our mission of protecting and enhancing Australia's aquatic environments.
Ballina, NSW preferred location but not essential.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
* Engaging with our OzFish staff teams, maintaining consistency across company-wide safety policies and procedures and identifying any gaps.
* Working with OzFish staff team to ensure the safety of all OzFish members and volunteers, during any OzFish business or event.
* Maintaining our Safety Champion WHS platform, including assisting OzFish staff team to utilise the platform regularly.
* Regular safety communication with the OzFish staff team, including bi-monthly all-staff Safety Forum, ensuring teams are regularly meeting on safety and regular staff safety communiques – in particular for new regulations or policies.
* Reporting quarterly on safety incidents, investigations and mitigations, to be supplied up to Risk Committee and Board.
* Ensure all staff have appropriate PPE and training, ensure records are up to date. Developing budget requests as required.
* Manage the distribution of appropriate equipment, PPE and training for volunteer safety, and keep records.
* Manage feedback, complaints and claims around safety from volunteers and members.
