Board Director Opportunity – Legal and/or Transport Sector Expertise

LINK is seeking two new Board Directors to join our committed and passionate board. We seek individuals with strong legal expertise, particularly in risk management, contract oversight, and regulatory compliance, to help guide our strategic direction and ensure strong governance and/or a strong background in transport management.
As a not-for-profit organisation with a proud history of delivering services across transport, disability, and aged care, LINK is driven by our mission to connect people to their communities with care and respect.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide strategic advice to support decision-making.
* Ensure regulatory compliance and manage governance risks.
* Contribute to board meetings and serve on relevant subcommittees.
* Support LINK’s mission and uphold its values.
* Champion best practice governance and foster a culture of integrity and accountability.
Legal Expertise – Solid experience in risk management, contracts, and compliance and/or
Transport Sector Experience – Expertise in transport operations, industry standards, and regulatory frameworks.
Board Experience – Prior service on a board (corporate, government, or not-for-profit).
Governance Knowledge – Strong grasp of compliance, fiduciary duties, and governance principles.
Leadership at Board Level – Strategic thinking, financial oversight, and mission alignment.
Values-driven – High integrity and a genuine commitment to LINK’s purpose.
Time Commitment – Capacity to attend board meetings, contribute to subcommittees and engage in strategic work.
Financial & Risk Acumen – Comfort with financial reports, risk frameworks, and compliance oversight.
Desirable (Highly Valued)
* Board experience within the not-for-profit sector.
* Knowledge of the transport, disability, or aged care sectors.
* Strategic, operational, or policy development background.
* Collaborative leadership within diverse teams or boards.
* Experience with advocacy, stakeholder engagement, or government relations.
* Skills in fundraising, grant writing, and supporting financial sustainability.
* Ability to lead or support innovation and change management.
* An active network and the ability to connect opportunities to LINK’s work.
* Experience chairing or contributing to subcommittees.
Commitment
Board meetings are held quarterly for half a day, and additional participation in subcommittees is required as needed. Meetings are held during office hours.
Remuneration
Director fees.
