Position Overview Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Cook at Sandwich Chef will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting menu items to a high standard while supporting smooth and efficient kitchen operations. Key Responsibilities Prepare and cook a variety of fast food-style menu items including sandwiches, rolls, salads, slow-cooked meats, roast vegetables, and fresh juices Assist with menu planning and development, ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment with café standards Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment in compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering, and manage inventory efficiently to minimise waste Train, supervise, and coordinate junior kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow and consistent food quality Work closely with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service during busy periods Assist with plating, presentation, and garnishing to maintain visual and taste standards Ensure correct use, operation, and maintenance of kitchen equipment Monitor cooking processes and adjust timing and methods to ensure quality and efficiency Contribute ideas for daily specials, promotions, and menu improvements Required Skills & Experience Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery or equivalent Minimum 2 years' experience as a Cook, Sandwich Chef, or similar role in a café or commercial kitchen Strong knowledge of food preparation, quality control, and kitchen operations Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety standards Good communication and teamwork skills Strong time management and organisational abilities What We Offer Stable, full-time employment Supportive and friendly team environment Opportunity for employer-sponsored visa for eligible candidates Competitive salary based on experience Regional lifestyle in Wagga Wagga with lower cost of living How to Apply Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your experience and availability.
