**About the role**
This is a lucrative opportunity to secure a key Managerial role within a reputable product owner organisation with an enviable suite of established energy products and positioned to take advantage of future growth prospects.
The businesses ethos is to provide bulk and cylinder gas products in a timely manner to our customer base; having built our reputation providing exceptional customer service and support - working in true partnership. As a result, you will drive last mile excellence and operational best practice with our carrier and transport contract partners, and will foster high standards, display excellent organisational skills and be a key support figure within the business.
In addition, the role will also support distribution operations with commercial decisions, compliance and contract management as well freight analytics to ensure the goals of continuous business improvement and supply chain strategies.
**Playing a pivotal role in the business's distribution network, this role will be responsible for**:
- Champion transport safety across the group.
- Contract management and negotiation.
- Lead long range transport planning to understand and proactively manage the impact of major changes, peak periods and business continuity.
- Maintain excellent day to day customer delivery services across the network.
- Work with key stakeholders to provide transparency of delivery service performance and evolve delivery service in line with sales and marketing strategies.
- Lead, motivate and inspire a team of circa 100 fleet and transport contract and employee personnel.
- Develop a positive working culture with all stakeholders that embraces equality and diversity, fosters professionalism, continuous improvement, idea generation, innovation and collaboration.
- Utilizes data-driven analytical tools and systems to continuously monitor operations, and identify inefficiencies.
- Troubleshoots and resolves escalated operational issues.
- Ensure all operations adhere to industry safety protocols.
**Our minimum requirements for this role are**:
- This is a pivotal role requiring a manager with at least 10 years' experience within the transport industry.
- Well organised and able to manage multiple deliverables simultaneously.
- Demonstrated capacity to achieve the company's operating objectives through a proven track record of delivering results both strategically and operationally.
- Tertiary qualifications in Commerce/ Supply Chain/ Logistics is advantageous.
- Knowledge of the industry and products and Dangerous Goods transport is desirable.
- Significant commercial experience and business acumen gained in logistics environments.
- Setting performance targets at the team and individual level for all distribution related functions.
- Process driven, analytical and methodical.
