Operations Manager – Valentines Bakehouse

Valentines Bakehouse is a family-owned artisan bakery group with six locations across North East Victoria. We're known for quality sourdough, exceptional coffee, and well-run businesses that have been operating in the local area for over 35 years.
As we continue to grow, we're looking for an Operations Manager to work closely with the owners and lead day-to-day operations across our sites.
This role is about making good businesses run better.

About the Role
As Operations Manager, you'll be responsible for the smooth, consistent operation of all Valentines Bakehouse locations. You'll support FOH teams and senior bakers, keep standards high, and ensure the business runs efficiently, profitably, and calmly.
You'll be a key link between ownership and the teams on the ground.

Key Responsibilities
* Oversee daily operations across multiple bakery sites
* Support and develop FOH teams and senior bakery staff
* Drive consistency in systems, processes, and standards
* Improve efficiency across labour, production, and workflow
* Monitor KPIs including labour %, food cost, waste, and sales
* Assist with rostering, staffing levels, and performance management
* Work with owners on budgeting, forecasting, and growth planning
* Ensure compliance with food safety, WHS, and employment standards

About You
You're practical, organised, and commercially minded. You understand hospitality and know how to lead people without micromanaging.
You'll likely have:
* Experience in multi-site hospitality, food production, or retail operations
* Strong people leadership and communication skills
* A solid understanding of labour control and cost management
* The ability to improve systems without overcomplicating them
* Confidence working closely with business owners
* A hands-on approach — especially when things get busy
Bakery experience is a plus, but not essential if you understand fast-paced food operations.
