Women's and Children's Services (WACS) at Launceston General Hospital is a supportive, collaborative, family‐centred service committed to delivering high‐quality care for mothers, babies and families. The team works closely with statewide partners to ensure accessible, evidence‐based services and maintain excellence in breastfeeding support, education, and outcomes.
Role
The Clinical Nurse Consultant – Lactation Consultant is a senior role delivering specialist clinical support to staff, patients, and families, while driving service improvement and evidence‐based practice.
Key responsibilities:
* Provide advanced clinical leadership and specialist lactation consultancy within professional and legislative scope.
* Support staff, mothers and families with complex breastfeeding needs across WACS.
* Build strong relationships with service providers across Tasmania to enhance access and continuity of care.
* Lead innovation, research and quality improvement in lactation services.
* Develop and implement clinical protocols and guidelines for the Lactation Service.
* Deliver education to nursing and midwifery staff to achieve and maintain Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative accreditation at the LGH.

Appointment Details
* Permanent, part‐time day worker position, up to 64 hours per fortnight starting 17 July 2026. Hours to be negotiated.
* For a period of twelve months from publication, the selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar vacancies.
Salary and Benefits
* Salary: $118,297 to $125,543 per annum (pro‐rata). Superannuation 12% on top.
* Salary range in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
* Postgraduate allowance up to 10% based on qualification type.
* Salary packaging and benefits: Living expenses up to $9,010, meal entertainment up to $2,650 per FBT year and other eligible benefits.

Eligibility
* Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
* Accredited with the International Board of Lactation Consultants.
* Current Working with Children Registration.
Desirable:
* Hold or be working towards relevant postgraduate tertiary qualifications.
