Schedule : Full-time Shift: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm Location: 900 WINDERLEY PL, Maitland, 32751 The role you’ll contribute: The Director of Audit and Education is responsible for developing, managing, and enhancing the department audit and education program, including department workflow policies and standardization. Key responsibilities include managing the audit and education program, completion of internal team member audits, creating education based on audit results; and as needed, maintaining professional standards, developing policies, and providing divisional audit and education support. This role has a direct oversight of auditors, coders, and coordinators, with the expectation that resources will be assigned as needed and based on current projects. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Participates in hiring and training an effective Audit and Education team. Supervise remote employees. Performs regular evaluations and reviews growth plans with the team. Serves as primary contact to leaders for coverage, audit and education, and regulatory guidance. Develops and coordinates educational and training sessions on topics related to audit findings.Maintains attendance roster of educational sessions. Manages data repositories and ensures information is current with the latest guidance and education for team members across the organization to utilize as a resource/tool. Routinely reviews official resources to stay abreast of changes and communicates changes to staff.Prepares and distributes training materials to facilitate understanding. Conducts on-line and videoconferencing classes as needed. Conducts evaluations immediately after training and makes updates to training curriculum based on comments/feedback. Assists in the onboarding, training, and auditing of new employees. Conducts credible research as needed to ensure educational material contains current, relevant, reliable, and factual detail. Develop training tools for onboarding of new team members. Provide training and onboarding to outsourced vendors. Estimates time to complete tasks and regularly tracks actual time against estimates. Works in collaboration with other leaders to streamline and track and trend the internal coding audit process. Assist in the development of productivity and audit standards across the company. Oversight of audit, and education team. In collaboration with the Executive Director, develop meaningful reports to share with the divisions. Provides the leaders with written status reports, issues and overall status of the projects assigned. Leads and/or participates in special projects. May conduct site visits to AH Facilities to provide training or support. Participates in the design, implementation, and maintenance of applications. Perform accuracy audits, prepare reports to include data reviews, detailed observations, and suggested recommendations. Publish a quarterly audit/education coding newsletter. Performs other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Substantial knowledge of department workflows and processes. Demonstrate expertise of regulatory guidance Demonstrate ability to research, share and stay up to date on regulatory changes, updates, and guidance. Ability to perform internal audits and develop education based on audit findings. Knowledgeable and able to use Microsoft Office applications. Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to perform mortality, PSI/HAC reviews Able to collaborate with our clinical documentation improvement team on projects and development of workflows. Able to prepare training manuals, training schedules/timelines and conduct web-based training. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED: Current knowledge of coding compliance and medical necessity audit correction process. Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills Epic experience Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in health information management or healthcare related degree. 10 or more years of inpatient/outpatient coding experience. 6-7 years of supervisory or management experience. 7-10 years of auditing experience 5 years of mortality, PSI/HAC review experience Computer knowledge of Microsoft software, Power Point, Visio, electronic medical record applications, coding software.
