**Position Information**:
Nulkaba Public School has a current enrolment of 417 students comprising of 17 mainstream classes and 3 support unit classes. 15% of the student population is Aboriginal. The school is located in the village of Nulkaba on the outskirts of Cessnock. This position requires an enthusiastic and engaging Learning and Support Teacher, who is committed and passionate about delivering programs to students requiring adjustments to their learning programs across our school K-6. This may include gifted students as well as students with additional needs.
As Learning and Support Teacher your duties may include attending relevant meetings (these might include case management), learning support, personalised learning plans, assessing and/or observing students within their normal classroom situations to determine the adjustments required for each student, as well as oversight of NCCD compliance.
Your role helps ensure all Nulkaba Public School students become capable and confident learners by:
- Developing appropriate transition plans;
- Reviewing and monitoring all PLASPs and PLPs and their implementation;
- Monitor progress and adapting programs to meet students' needs;
- Assisting with the organisation and administration of approved provisions for examinations;
- Support individual class teachers in planning and developing the learning programs and to assist students; and
- Successfully implementing the NCCD within the School.
**Selection Criteria**:
1. Approval to teach students with learning and support needs (primary) and/or experience teaching students with learning and support needs (primary) in regular classes. Capacity to provide specialist assistance to students in regular classes with additional learning and support needs and their teachers.
2. Effective and experienced communicator who has developed skills in written and verbal communication across whole school community and outside agencies.
3. Demonstrated experience as an advocate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, families and community by utilising AECG partnership to enhance practice.
4. Capacity to assess, plan and implement personalised adjustments for learning for students with additional learning and support needs across mainstream and support unit settings.
5. Highly developed leadership and organisational skills to oversee and implement initiatives collaboratively and independently.
