Mechanical Design Checker – PDP2 Project (4–6 Week Contract)
Our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Checker for an immediate-start assignment supporting the PDP2 Project. This short-term role requires a highly skilled professional able to quickly contribute to design quality and verification across mechanical and bulk materials handling scopes.
Key Responsibilities
* Check and verify mechanical and bulk materials handling deliverables for compliance with project standards, specs, and industry codes.
* Review 2D drawings, 3D models, GAs, conveyor profiles, platework, and documentation.
* Identify clashes, errors, and non-conformances; provide clear, actionable feedback.
* Support designers with query resolution to ensure accuracy and constructibility.
* Work effectively within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary project team.
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree or trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
* 10+ years' experience in mechanical design and/or design checking, ideally within bulk materials handling, mining, or heavy industrial projects.
* Demonstrated experience as a Mechanical Design Checker on EPC/EPCM projects, particularly during detailed design (PDP) phases.
* Strong knowledge of relevant Australian and international standards, client specifications, and engineering best practice.
* High proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD tools (e.g. AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, MicroStation or similar).
* Proven ability to interpret and check GAs, conveyor layouts and profiles, platework, structural/mechanical interfaces, and fabrication drawings
