Job Description
We are seeking an experienced AOD Registered Nurse to join our team at Windana Drug and Alcohol Recovery Inc.
The Non-Residential Withdrawal (NRW) Registered Nurse will be based within the SECADA Drug and Alcohol consortium, working alongside three partner agencies including Monash Health, Odyssey House and YSAS.
The successful applicant will provide comprehensive assessment, risk formulation and withdrawal management to clients within a community setting. Treatment will be provided via digital modalities, on-site and outreach.
Key Responsibilities
* Nursing Assessments and Case Management: Deliver nursing assessments, case management, and support to clients, their families, and significant others in diverse settings.
* Care for Complex Clients: Provide care for individuals with co-existing conditions such as alcohol and other drug (AOD) use, mental health concerns, and acquired brain injuries.
* Referrals and Connections: Support clients in accessing medical professionals, including GPs, Nurse Practitioners, and Addiction Medicine specialists. Connect clients with additional AOD treatment services and refer them to relevant health or community support agencies as needed.
* Case Coordination: Coordinate and formulate client care across multiple services and providers, ensuring seamless delivery.

* Client Documentation: Maintain comprehensive client documentation and case notes, ensuring accuracy and compliance and capturing relevant details for analysis.
Requirements
* Experience and Knowledge: 3+ years' experience in conducting drug and alcohol withdrawal and physical assessments. Knowledge of AOD pharmacotherapy principles, practice, and contemporary standards including evidence-based practice and interventions.
* Clinical Judgment and Autonomy: Proven ability to work autonomously and apply professional and clinical judgement within scope.
* Stakeholder Engagement: An ability to establish rapport with a range of stakeholders including clients, families, staff, and external service providers.
* Administrative Skills: Excellent administration skills with strong multitasking skills and ability to work autonomously.
* Flexibility and Teamwork: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be part of a multidisciplinary team. Solution focused with a growth mindset and the ability manage self when experiencing organisational change, challenging clients and uncertainty.
* Qualifications and Registration: Bachelor's degree in nursing. Current registration as Registered Nurse (Division 1) within the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Certificate IV in AOD or 4 AOD core competencies or willingness to complete studies during employment.
