About the role
As an hands‑on Chief Financial Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial leadership of the business and supporting our long‑term vision and sustainability. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role blends strategic oversight with active involvement in day‑to‑day financial operations and reporting, commercial decision‑making, and continuous improvement initiatives across the organisation.
Duties involved but not limited to:
Financial Leadership & Strategy
Shape and execute the company’s financial strategy in line with business objectives and values
Provide commercial and financial insight to support growth, investment, and strategic planning
Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO, senior leadership team, and Board, translating financial data into clear, actionable guidance
Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and working capital optimisation
Deliver monthly management reporting, performance analysis, and insights
Ensure compliance with statutory, taxation, and regulatory obligations
Operational & Commercial Partnership
Work closely with the executive team to improve margins, pricing, and cost control
Analyse costs, capital expenditure proposals, and operational efficiency opportunities
Support key commercial negotiations with suppliers
Risk, Governance & Controls
Maintain robust financial controls and governance frameworks
Support Board processes, including preparation of Board papers and reporting
Ensure compliance across financial, tax, and employment requirements
Leadership & Culture
Lead, develop and mentor the finance team while remaining operationally hands‑on
Lead external relationships with auditors, banks, and advisors
Build a collaborative, accountable finance function that supports the broader business
Champion the organisation’s values and commitment to the Rail Industry
About You
10+ years’ senior financial leadership experience (CFO / Finance Director level)
Proven experience leading finance functions in multi‑entity or national organisations
Strong financial planning and analysis, governance, and commercial acumen
CPA or CA qualification
Advanced Excel experience
Experience in logistics, or similar industries highly regarded
Values‑driven leader with a collaborative, practical approach
Current national police check
