About The Role
Alfred Health is looking to recruit a Specialist in Immunopathology (Fractional) to work 0.2 EFT at the Alfred as part of the Shared Pathology Service. An additional 0.2 EFT is advertised through Monash Health and we would encourage a specialist to apply at both health services.
The Immunopathologist plays an important role in the supervision and interpretation of the immunopathology diagnostic tests, providing advice to clinicians at Alfred and externally on available tests and follow up of abnormal results. The position also requires participation in aspects of laboratory management (quality control/quality assurance and OHS), development/evaluation of current tests, staff education and research. The immunopathologist is responsible for the supervision of diagnostic immunology including allergy, autoantibody immunofluorescence and automated assays. They contribute to protein chemistry and flow cytometry assays with appropriate specialist knowledge of immunopathology.
Responsibilities
- supervise and interpret immunopathology diagnostic tests
- provide advice to clinicians on available tests and follow up of abnormal results
- participate in laboratory management (quality control/quality assurance and OHS)
- develop/evaluate new tests
- staff education and research
- supervise diagnostic immunology including allergy, autoantibody immunofluorescence and automated assays
- contribute to protein chemistry and flow cytometry assays with specialist immunopathology knowledge
Qualifications
- legally qualified practitioners, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
- Fellow of The Royal Australian of Pathologists of Australasia in Immunopathology
- demonstrable relevant knowledge and experience in Immunopathology
- meet Alfred Health requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in Pathology
