**THE ROLE**

Housing Services Officers play a vital role in supporting the delivery of client-centered services to individuals and families who seek housing assistance or reside in public housing. This role is part of a network of community workers and organisations that share the responsibility for working with vulnerable people to promote and support their wellbeing. Based in offices across the state and working across two teams, the role undertakes a range of tasks relating to tenancy and property management and/or the provision of housing advice and assistance that may include:

- Managing and maintaining tenancies
- providing support and information on services
- identifying and assessing Victorians' housing needs and their eligibility for services
- allocating rental properties to eligible applicants
- visiting and working with tenants to resolve tenancy issues
- ensuring maintenance work is carried out on tenants' homes.

**ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE**
- Provide routine advice on housing options from a range of established policy, procedures and standards.
- Assist in making appropriate referrals to internal or external support service providers in order to assist clients with their short-term housing needs.
- Undertake supervised home visits as required.
- Prepare routine documents for review processes and tribunals and attend hearings with senior officers as required.
- Undertake a range of administrative functions to support the operation of the work unit as required and under general direction, participate in the development and implementation of new processes and systems.
- Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.

**WORKING IN RURAL VICTORIA INCENTIVE**
External applicants relocating to a regional area could be eligible for up to $20,500 worth of incentives. Internal applicants relocating to a regional area could be eligible for up to $15,500 worth of incentives. If you live and work in an area classified as 'remote' by the Australian Tax Office, you may also be eligible for additional salary packaging arrangements, such as mortgage interest, rental costs, and residential utilities.
