About The Role: This is a key leadership role in one of the City's essential service teams. In this role you will coordinate the City's waste collection services and activities at the Busselton Transfer Station, ensuring waste is transported and processed in accordance with industry regulations, licencing and the City's policies, maximising recycling, making best use of resources, ensuring compliance with regulatory authorities and providing a high level of customer service.
About You: We are looking for applicants willing to take on a busy and diverse role who have:
* Well developed team leadership skills gained in a high pressure operational environment. Proven ability to train, mentor and manage staff to achieve operational objectives.
* Extensive, relevant site or operational management experience (waste sites, mining, earthmoving, farming) which has involved plant operation.
* An interest in and ability to learn all aspects of waste and site management, waste disposal, salvage and recycling practices and procedures, including gatehouse duties.
* Technical knowledge of plant operations and the optimum use of plant, developed through previous hands-on plant operating.
* Ability to learn and interpret a range of strict, complex regulatory standards and implement work practices that comply.
* Strong safety focus and the ability to learn and implement safety practices.
* Confident, well-developed communication and customer service skills, willing to learn gatehouse functions.
* Proven ability to independently problem solve and contribute to continual improvements.
You daily shift will be 7:00am-4:00pm, Monday to Friday working a 9 day fortnight, with a requirement to be on call on alternate weekends (this attracts additional payments). Paid overtime could also occasionally be required as both waste facilities operate 7 days a week.
Applicants will also need a Construction Safety Awareness (White Card), HR licence, loader ticket (or willing to obtain) and be able to provide a National Police Clearance no more than 6 months old.
