Katherine Women's Crisis Centre – Katherine NT
Katherine Women's Crisis Centre (KWCC) provides safe and supportive accommodation for women and children experiencing domestic and family violence. This supportive environment works with all members of the family in a way which enriches women's lives by supporting their individual choices. KWCC strives to make systemic change by working closely with other service providers to prevent violence.
To provide a holistic trauma informed service to women and children who are experiencing or escaping family violence.
To ensure the safety of clients and staff while providing a range of quality support services to families in the Crisis Accommodation & Support Service and those who are off-site being case managed through outreach.
To provide a case management service to children entering the service from initial intake, assessment, case planning, exit planning, and review.
To provide age-appropriate activities for children residing in the centre, both individually and in group work.
To link children with appropriate therapeutic services who deliver a culturally sensitive, trauma informed approach.
The position will work closely with the Crisis Accommodation Coordinator, Children's Counsellor and support/case workers in establishing the needs and support required for the children.
Selection Criteria
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in Children's Services, Social Work, Community Services, Psychology or equivalent
* Demonstrated experience in delivering child-focused activities in a trauma-informed context
* Strong understanding of the impacts of domestic and family violence on children and families
* Knowledge of child protection legislation and mandatory reporting
* Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families
* Understanding of the development stages of children
* Capacity to work independently and manage competing priorities
* Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
* Competency in using case management software and Microsoft Office
* Current NT Driver's Licence
* Ochre Card (or ability to obtain)
* National Police Check
* First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
