Primary objective
Manage and lead the Mining and Energy Business Systems including interactions with other government agencies. Provide
specialist business systems advice, data and information to other agencies, the resource industry and the public.
Context statement
As part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team, this role liaises closely with users of the key business systems in the
Department of Mining and Energy. The role sits within Business Systems, which develops, manages and supports these
systems.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Manage Business Systems and provide specialist advice for the development and maintenance of the Departments
business systems.
2. Provide support to projects related to Departments business systems, databases and IT infrastructure.
3. Manage the Departmental business systems to ensure an accurate electronic register of mineral and energy tenure and
activity is maintained in accordance with legislative and business requirements.
4. Manage and ensure the protection, integrity and security of stored textual and spatial data within the Departments
business systems.
5. Provide database reports, statistics to senior management and clients as required.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience and capability in managing staff and change management.
2. High level of interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
3. Demonstrated experience of contemporary leadership and management and problem solving skills.
4. Wide knowledge and experience in the Business System Development Lifecycle, management of business systems and
associated mapping services and the ability to lead the team with the development and maintenance of existing and new
systems.
5. Proven ability to work in an environment of competing demands to deliver outcomes within timeframes and
independently prioritise work tasks and functions accordingly.
6. Well-developed conceptual, analytical, research skills, including the ability to translate complex analysis into concise and
meaningful forms.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualifications relevant to the role.
2. Well-developed understanding of the Departments business systems practices, mineral and energy tenure processes.
