Case Worker (The Family Unit) - Fixed Term Part Time - Hillcrest/Browns Plains
Mercy Community is seeking a passionate and dynamic Case Worker to join The Family Unit team based in Hillcrest/Browns Plains. This is a 12-month Fixed Term Part-time contract with flexibility to work 2 days each week, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. This role offers opportunities for career development, flexibility, and working with an experienced team.
The successful candidate will undertake holistic assessments of families and young people, including risk assessments, and provide targeted therapeutic interventions and group activities to support vulnerable families with complex needs at risk of entering the statutory child protection system. The role involves promoting the safety and well-being of children by observing family interactions and assisting families in developing positive relationships through communication skills, psychoeducation, and systemic support.
Salary: $43.08 - $44.20 per hour (SCHADS level 4) plus superannuation and salary packaging options.
This role includes but is not limited to:
* Conducting psycho-social assessments of families to evaluate dynamics and needs
* Developing, implementing, and evaluating support plans
* Leading case plan development and engaging with families and agencies
* Providing in-home support to develop parenting skills and improve family functioning
* Referring families to address specialized needs such as mental health, substance misuse, or domestic violence
About You
* Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Social Work, Social Science, Psychology, or related discipline
* Knowledge of Queensland Child Protection system and experience with risk assessments
* Current Queensland Driver Licence (Provisional Green or above)
* Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check) or ability to obtain one
* Evidence of current vaccination against whooping cough or willingness to obtain prior to start
