We are recruiting for a friendly and motivated permanent fulltime IT Systems Administrator to join our IT team based at our ANZ Head Office in Northgate, Brisbane.
Reporting to the Director of IT Operations APAC, this brand-new appointment for our business will ensure the smooth day-to-day management, maintenance, and support of our Metagenics IT infrastructure. This role is additionally key to the reliability, security, and optimal performance of our servers, networks, and related systems. The IT Systems Administrator will also support our business operations by providing technical expertise- implementing system improvements, and resolving escalated technical issues. Our ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, a proactive mindset with the ability to manage complex environments in both on-premise and cloud-based systems.
Key Responsibilities
Manage, maintain, and monitor the organization's servers, network infrastructure, and cloud systems to ensure high availability and performance
Administer user accounts, permissions, and access controls in Active Directory and other systems
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues escalated from the helpdesk
Perform regular system updates, security patches, and backups to safeguard data and infrastructure
Support the implementation and maintenance of cybersecurity best practices, including antivirus, firewalls, and endpoint protection
Collaborate with IT team members on infrastructure projects, upgrades, and system rollouts
Maintain accurate documentation of systems, configurations, procedures, and network diagrams
Ensure compliance with organizational policies and relevant industry regulations
Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing activities
Continuously evaluate and recommend system improvements or automation opportunities
Skills and experience
Established and proven hands-on experience in system administration or a similar IT infrastructure role
Proven ability to manage and maintain servers, storage, and network devices
Experience in creating and maintaining system documentation and runbooks
Operating Systems:
Proficient in administering Windows Server (2012/2016/2019/2022)
Proficient in administering Linux distributions (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL).
Experience with VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, or similar virtualization platforms.
Microsoft Stack:
Experience in managing Microsoft 365 and Entra ID environments
Experience managing Exchange Online
Experience with Microsoft Intune
Networking:
Understanding of TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, and network troubleshooting
Ideal desired skills, though not essential to your success:
Operating Systems:
Active Directory:
· Managing users, groups, Group Policy Objects (GPO), DNS, and DHCP.
· Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, preferably Microsoft Azure, alternatively AWS, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Security:
· Knowledge of system hardening, patch management, endpoint protection, and compliance (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR).
Backup and Recovery:
· Experience implementing and managing backup solutions (e.g., Veeam).
