The Role
We are seeking an experienced Cabling Technician with ACMA Open Cabling Registration to join our growing team. This is a hands-on position working across a wide range of projects, including:
* Structured cabling installations (copper, fibre optic, coaxial)
* Integrated building cabling (IBC) projects
Rail/metro project experience is highly desirable.
You'll play a key role in delivering reliable solutions while ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety requirements, and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
* Install, terminate, and test structured cabling systems (Cat6, Cat6A, copper, fibre optic, and coaxial) to ACMA standards.
* Conduct fault finding and technical troubleshooting on cabling systems.
* Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and project specifications.
* Prepare and maintain accurate site documentation, including test results and compliance reports.
* Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and clients to ensure project delivery on time and to specification.
* Maintain compliance with WHS and ACMA cabling regulations.
* Take responsibility for tools, equipment, and materials required for project delivery.
Qualifications & Experience
* Minimum 3 years' communications/cabling experience.
* ACMA Open Cabling Registration (essential).
* Proven experience in structured cabling installation and testing.
* Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* Current driver's licence and ability to travel.
* Rail/metro project experience preferred.
Desirable / Advantageous
* Experience with Integrated Building Cabling (IBC) systems.
* Relevant trade qualification in telecommunications/cabling.
* Previous experience on large-scale commercial or industrial projects.
* High-risk work licenses (EWP under /over 11m, Working at Heights).
