The Opportunity – Senior Risk & Compliance Adviser
As a Senior Risk & Compliance Adviser within the Group Risk & Compliance Division at Medibank, you will be responsible for supporting the operation, effectiveness, embedment and continuous improvement of the enterprise risk and compliance management frameworks and procedures across the business.
How you will create value
In this broad ranging and crucial role, you will utilise your Risk & Compliance experience to add value to Medibank by:
* Communicating Risk & Compliance improvement opportunities to management and assist in the preparation of Executive and Board Risk Committee Papers.
* Conduct periodic oversight and assurance activities, such as closed action reviews, and control implementation/uplift activities, including provision of insights regarding compliance with obligations, risks and control requirements.
* Support the Squad Lead, Risk & Compliance with the implementation of risk-related enterprise initiatives and, the delivery of other enterprise programs.
* Educate business stakeholders on the risk and compliance management frameworks and processes.
* Monitor, oversee and analyse incidents identified and management by the first line to identify trends and opportunities to strengthen the control environment.
* Work with key stakeholders to drive insight and learnings from incident data.
* Monitor management of operational risk and compliance incidents across the business and connection to relevant operational risks and obligations.
* Support the performance of risk workshops and assessments on new risks, business initiatives and projects.
* Support senior management with the development of risk treatment plans and monitor implementation and completion.
* Maintain a high degree of knowledge of the Medibank operating environment and the regulatory obligations that apply to the business.
* Identify (and communicate through the appropriate channels) potential gaps in the obligation register and opportunities to improve the quality, completeness and granularity of obligation information.
* Monitor and provide input into the implantation of risk culture initiatives and implement mechanisms to assess the robustness of Medibank's risk culture.
* Be a trusted Adviser to senior management, including acting as a key reference for new business initiatives and projects, in order to effectively convey high-quality business insight, advice and constructive challenge.
About you
You have in-depth knowledge and practical experience of operational risk and compliance frameworks, methodologies and management. You will bring proven experience in designing, implementing operational risk and compliance tools and, methodologies.
Other key experience includes:
* More than 6 years' experience in a Risk or Compliance role ideally in a large Financial Services environment.
* In-depth knowledge and practical experience of operational risk and compliance frameworks, methodologies, management and control techniques is essential
* In-depth technical knowledge and understanding of the regulatory frameworks including ACL, CPS220, CPS230 and CPS234.
* Excellent influencing skills together with experience and gravitas to provide challenge as required and establish credibility with stakeholders.
* Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and stakeholder management skills to engage effectively and relay information appropriately to the audience.
* Able to present effectively at major meetings/conferences and to communicate the most complex technical/specialist ideas effectively to all audiences.
