About the role
This role leads the development and delivery of strategic and tactical initiatives that strengthen the department’s industrial relations capability, providing authoritative advice on complex matters and shaping the overarching industrial strategy. The role is responsible for guiding major industrial relations negotiations on behalf of the department, ensuring outcomes that support organisational objectives while fostering constructive relationships across key stakeholders.
About you
As the Director of Industrial Relations Reform, you will be a highly skilled and politically astute leader with extensive experience negotiating complex awards and industrial instruments, implementing industrial relations policy—including the NSW Government’s Fair Pay and Bargaining Policy—and managing sensitive, high‑risk issues through strong engagement with unions, employees, employers and other key stakeholders. You will bring strategic and business planning capability, aligning priorities and resources to support departmental objectives while establishing effective governance and processes to drive successful industrial award reform.

* Anticipate risks, navigate complex industrial relations reforms, and provide steady, values‑aligned leadership.
* Apply high‑level stakeholder management to deliver cohesive, aligned problem‑solving that supports the department’s priorities and advances organisational goals.
