The ACT Teacher Quality Institute, within the Education Portfolio, has a temporary vacancy for the position of Principal Advisor, ACT Teacher Quality Institute. This is a six month placement for a school-based leader and is an excellent opportunity to bring an overarching school, system and profession focus into some important work TQI is leading. It is also an opportunity to build public administration and depth of understanding in government business and relations.
The ACT Teacher Quality Institute (the Institute/TQI) is an independent statutory authority responsible for the regulation of the teaching profession in the ACT. It operates under the _ACT Teacher Quality Institute Act 2010_ (the Act).
The Institute is responsible for providing high level strategic advice and recommendations to the TQI Board based on evidence gathered from research, reviews and consultations with stakeholders. The Institute leads the development and implementation of TQI's strategic plan, policies, and procedures.
The Principal Advisor, ACT Teacher Quality Institute, is a senior leadership position within the ACT Government. The role requires high levels of strategic vision, leadership and well-developed analytical skills. The role will provide expert advice and recommendations to the leadership team within the Institute, as well as to the Minister and the TQI Board on a wide range of matters. Of particular importance, as TQI enters its second decade, is leading the development of a regulatory framework that articulates to the teaching profession how TQI meets its functions as defined within the Act.
